Overall objectives of the inclusive learning resource
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What are the overall broader objectives to which the action will contribute?)
The aim of the Code RED project was to address Early School Leaving (ESL) and drop-out from education.
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the key indicators related to the overall objectives?)
The curriculum is design based on an innovative methodology " the co creativity methodology" that helps every participant to feel valuable and equally engaged during the process of learning. Each participant can contribute in the process by taking advantage of his own unique characteristics.
Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information for these indicators?)
The process of co_design has proved to be successful in other European Projects and results in: a.Re-engagement with learning, b. Increase in Confidence and Self - Esteem. c. Improved communication and digital skills. d. Effective team work and group problem solving skills, e. Increase employability skills
Risks and Challenges:
Specific purpose of the inclusive learning resource
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What specific objective is the resource intended to achieve to contribute to the overall objectives?)
The aim of the Code RED project was to address Early School Leaving (ESL) and drop-out from education, by applying and testing a digital games’ co-design methodology through a series of informal workshops in partner-countries, and then transform the methodology and the overall experience into a structured curriculum unit that will support improving engagement of young people to education and transferring and formalizing the relevant employability skills-set.
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (Which indicators clearly show that the objective of the actions/resource has been achieved?)
1. The training seems to have attract lots of participants. 2. During the training participants seems motivated and engaged and they don't face any obstacles. 3. After the training participants comments where positive regarding the content of the training, the trainer and in general with the whole training experience. 4. They feel more positive regarding their future.
Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information that exist or can be collected? What are the methods required to get this information?)
In the course of the project, extensive research have been conducted through a series of interactive sessions to ascertain the causes of disengagement and self exclusion from education. As a next phase different workshops in the consortium countries (UK, Italy, Cyprus and Greece) were conducted in which young people with and without disability have been supported to create educational computer and location based games. Using the workshops for designing game and the employability curriculum the aim is to increase required skills and remove the barriers for employability for this target group.
Risks and Challenges: (Which factors and conditions outside the user's responsibility are necessary to achieve that objective? (external conditions)) Which risks should be taken into consideration?
Some participants are more sensitive so lot's of time they are discouraged so the language during the training should encourage participants to engage and feel part of the group. The trainer should make sure that all participants are following and enjoying the process of the training. Trainer needs to know what are the expectation of each participant before even starting the training and make clear to all of them what are the expected outcomes of this training. Each participant should be acknowledge for his contribution as it is important for his self esteem. An evaluation form anonymously for the training in general is also good as participant will have the opportunity to write their opinion regarding their trainer, the training environment, the training content, write suggestions or comments etc. With this the trainer will know if he needs to make further improvements for future training/workshops.
Expected results on implementation of the resource
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (The results are the outputs envisaged to upscale. What are the expected results?)
The Code RED Units cover two courses that help introducing the co-design methodology and cooperative learning in general (Phase A), five courses that support the tutor in executing the games’ co-design methodology (Phase B) and four final courses that offer hard skills about well-known game authoring and other supportive software (Phase C). Use also“Annex I - CodeRED-Trainers-Handbook-v1.0”, to find the relevant Trainers Handbook which is providing instructions on how to use the curriculum in combination with the rest of the online resources and digital games
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the indicators to measure whether and to what extent the action/resource achieves the expected results?)
1. The trainer will evaluate the participants before the training, during the training and after the training so he can compare the results from the first day to the last day of the training. This is regarding the training content. 2. Participants will evaluate how they have experience the training anonymously so this will give feedback on how satisfy they feel with the training. 3. Also, participants can evaluate if the training had help them to gain more employability opportunities,
Sources and means of verification: (What are the available sources of information for these indicators?)
Risks and Challenges: (What external conditions must be met to obtain the expected results on schedule?)
Accessible training environment with all facilities in case a person with disabilities will take part in the training. Comfortable environment with good climate system.
In case of pricing of the training should not discourage a person to take part in the training. The training should offer a certificate that the user can use of it in order to gain employability opportunities.
Activities
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What are the key activities to be carried out and in what sequence in order to reach the expected results?)
Within the CODE RED project a unified curriculum for the employability skills of persons who at the risk of ESL is developed. The Code Red Curriculum includes:
Phase A: Two Courses for introducing Co design Methodology and Co operative Learning. Phase B: Five Courses that support the tutor executing the Co Design Methodology. Phase C: Four Courses that offer hard skills about well known game authoring and other supportive software.
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the means required to implement these activities, e.g. personnel, equipment, training, studies, supplies, operational facilities, etc.)
In order to run the training you will need:
1. Accessible place to run the training which offers facilities for different user needs. 2. The place should have also first aid kit and quick access to medical staff (it can be near to a medical center or hospital) as people with special need are more vulnerable for health related issues. 3. The trainer should have the qualification to run the training . 4. The training material should be accessible from all users. . 5. The classroom sitting arrangement is something that you need to take into consideration for ex. to run this training activities a circle shape might be more suitable. 8. Classroom should have also enough electric socket.
Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information about action progress?)
Staff cost, Classroom cost, Learning material Cost
Risks and Challenges: (What pre-conditions are required before the use of the resource starts? What conditions outside the user's direct control have to be met for the implementation of the planned activities?)
Training content and environment needs to be accessible to all participants. Different range of learning methods should be used in order to address the diversity needs of participants. Groups should be small in order to make more efficient training, Users need to have access to use different tools and learning material. The seating arrangement should be in circle in order to support collaboration between participants.
