The Empowering People expertise cell at UC Leuven-Limburg developed the booklet 'Apps at a low development age'. In guiding children and adults with a low developmental age, the question is regularly asked about whether and how to use tablets as a support tool. These devices are often available in the family, the school or the facility.

The purpose of this booklet is to facilitate a first introduction to the use of tablets for people with disabilities and their supervisors or parents. There is a huge range of apps available. Based on a limited selection of apps, we want to show what kind of support could be provided by using a tablet, also for people with a low developmental age.

Users can even borrow a tablet with this booklet and the proposed apps on it. This way everyone, including those without a tablet, gets the chance to try out this way of working. The iOS platform was now chosen and mainly free or cheap apps. The really more expensive apps have been discussed but cannot be found on the iPad.
