Overall objectives of the inclusive learning resource
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What are the overall broader objectives to which the action will contribute?)
The focus of this project is preventing school failure and promoting a socially inclusive school-wide framework through teacher training in the SWPBS methodology. A methodology that support prevention of school violence.
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the key indicators related to the overall objectives?)
Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information for these indicators?)
Risks and Challenges:
Specific purpose of the inclusive learning resource
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What specific objective is the resource intended to achieve to contribute to the overall objectives?)
In the TaSDi-PBS project, partners aim to implement elements of SWPBS in a culturally responsive manner across elementary schools with specific emphasis on:
1) Training school-based teams to deliver key elements of SWPBS to school staff and students.
2) Producing teacher training manuals to teach students school-wide social expectations and manage problem behaviors.
3) Developing a web-based platform to disseminate project activities for effective communication, use and sustainability among consortium partners and others.
Key activities of the project will include systematic professional development, direct behavior instruction based on classroom-based assessments, and continuous progress monitoring of student outcomes and implementation procedures.
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (Which indicators clearly show that the objective of the actions/resource has been achieved?)
The need for the project:
The number of students with diverse academic and behavioral needs included in general education classrooms has been increasing significantly over time. Preventing school failure and promoting a socially inclusive school-wide framework is the focus of this project.
Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information that exist or can be collected? What are the methods required to get this information?)
TaSDi-PBS project purports in examining the feasibility of the School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS) across five European countries (Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Spain and The Netherlands). The SWPBS originated in the United States of America as a preventative three-tiered approach to school violence and discipline more than three decades ago and has been implemented in more than 23,000 American schools and 20 countries worldwide.
Risks and Challenges: (Which factors and conditions outside the user's responsibility are necessary to achieve that objective? (external conditions)) Which risks should be taken into consideration?
Expected results on implementation of the resource
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (The results are the outputs envisaged to upscale. What are the expected results?)
The expected results after the implementation of the methodology are: less episodes of school violence, teachers to be more confident towards to solve discipline issues, positive impact on student behavior.
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the indicators to measure whether and to what extent the action/resource achieves the expected results?)
Partners trained school-based teams to deliver key elements of SWPBS to school staff and students.
Sources and means of verification: (What are the available sources of information for these indicators?)
Risks and Challenges: (What external conditions must be met to obtain the expected results on schedule?)
Activities
Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What are the key activities to be carried out and in what sequence in order to reach the expected results?)
Key project activities include systematic professional development, direct behavior instruction based on classroom-based assessments, and continuous progress monitoring of student outcomes and implementation procedures.
As part of the TaSDi-PBS project, an eLearning environment was developed where users are able to find course information and material, participate in learning activities, and use assessment tools to evaluate their performance. The are in the form of brief lessons, with practical tips, and videos, with a YouTube channel, focusing on promoting SWPBS in Europe. The eLearning Platform includes the training course for the teachers that is divided in three modules:
Module 1: Effective Classroom Management by promoting Positive Behavior
Module 2:Scientific Foundations and Logic behind the Strategy of Positive Speech.
Module 3:Training of Teachers in the Implementation of the Strategy
You can find the course modules here: https://tasdi-pbs.eu/en/
Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the means required to implement these activities, e.g. personnel, equipment, training, studies, supplies, operational facilities, etc.)
Equipment: PC and Internet access
Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information about action progress?)
Risks and Challenges: (What pre-conditions are required before the use of the resource starts? What conditions outside the user's direct control have to be met for the implementation of the planned activities?)
