Overall objectives of the inclusive learning resource

Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What are the overall broader objectives to which the action will contribute?)

Support trainers on how to use the Simulated  game based learning environment Play2Do on teacher training.

Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the key indicators related to the overall objectives?)

Teacher should show improvement on their practices and more confidence on how to cope with specific behavioral problem of student in their classroom.

Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information for these indicators?)

-Pre-assessment to record status

-Assessment during training, using dedicated assignments

-Post-training assessment to measure the resulted status

Risks and Challenges:

The game is designed to give only recommendations for the teacher to support her work, to help her reflect on her actions regarding inclusive practices. It is not giving an absolute solution on what teacher should do as each case is different because of the student characteristic, environment, culture etc So each teacher can use this tool as part of their training in order to support discussion and come with best practices with her colleagues.

Specific purpose of the inclusive learning resource

Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What specific objective is the resource intended to achieve to contribute to the overall objectives?)

Teachers will use the application and they will work with 6 different  scenarios on how to deal with students with special needs in their classroom, after completing each scenario they will learn skills on how to  coping with behavioral problems, anticipating aggressive behavior and preventing it, dealing with aggression, setting a positive role model of communicating with SEN students also on how to deal with unpredictable situations in the classroom for ex when a student has an epileptic episode and how to deal with the rest of the children. Also be exchanging opinion and good practices with their colleagues and trainer  they will promote more quality inclusive practices.

Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (Which indicators clearly show that the objective of the actions/resource has been achieved?)

Teacher's are having the ability to anticipate behaviors and preventing them, anticipating aggressive behavior, the communication with SEN children is easier, they know strategies on how to deal not only with students and different situation but also how to deal with parents when something happen during school time. Also, they will demonstrate skills on how they can deal with specific situation such us when a student is having an epileptic episode.

Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of  information that exist or can be collected? What are the methods required to get this information?)

The trainer will assess the skills of the teachers before the training begins and will evaluate their progress at the end of the training. Also, the trainer will ask the participants to give their feedback on how they feel with this method of training(using also a simulation environment)comparing it with traditional modes of training (without using the simulation environment).

Risks and Challenges: (Which factors and conditions outside the user's responsibility are necessary to achieve that objective? (external conditions)) Which risks should be taken into consideration?

Option to use on school training or at home for self training.

Need to have internet connection and a device (PC, MAC) in order to use the resource.

Need to be familiar with basic ICT skills.

Need to download the Play2Do resource from: http://play2do.eu/outputs/ and select the link Play2Do Educational game. You have the option to download a windows version 64 or 32 bit or a MAC version

Expected results on implementation of the resource

Inclusive learning intervention logic: (The results are the outputs envisaged to upscale. What are the expected results?)

1) Learners will become able to:

Evaluate and further develop programmes to maximize the opportunities for effective engagement of students with special needs in their classroom.

2) To improve or learn new skills on how to deal with specific students and promote inclusive education.

3) Through, this opportunity they can take decisions that they will decide in common, on how to deal in specific cases

4) To have more self esteem when they need to take actions in similar situations as they have already have the opportunity to work on the simulated environment and have already discuss with their colleagues about a similar case.

Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the indicators to measure whether and to what extent the action/resource achieves the expected results?)

1) When running the same scenarios after the discussion phase teachers will have a common understanding on what actions to take for each case and will show similarities when they take decision in the visual environment.                                                 2) Also, they are able to recall those action not only in simulation environment but also in their classroom when they need to phase a similar situation.

Sources and means of verification: (What are the available sources of information for these indicators?)

- Pre-assessment of aforementioned skills and competencies, post-assessment immediately after the end of the training and final assessment a few months or later.

- After the end of training, gather information from the teachers on how he/she experienced the training.

Risks and Challenges: (What external conditions must be met to obtain the expected results on schedule?)

- Make sure to have Internet and download the resource.

- Emphasize from the beginning that the recourse is only for supporting discussion and is not giving absolute solutions.

Activities

Inclusive learning intervention logic: (What are the key activities to be carried out and in what sequence in order to reach the expected results?)

1. Use the Play2Do game as a complementary resource in the teacher training.

2. Run the application and use it through the following stages:

a) Observe: In this stage the learners need to observe the setting of the environment, the escalating behavior of the vulnerable children, as well as the actions of the players.

2) Interactlearners will applying the skills they have acquired while acting in (observing) the environment. They may also interact with their trainers and ask them for help or consider their feedback in order to achieve better results in the game.

3) Reflect: After the experiences of observing and interacting within and outside the game, scenarios are reflected on, as well  as conclusions are drawn regarding own performance, acceptable/unacceptable behavior, successful/unsuccessful or desirable/undesirable interaction with special needs children/students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Then, all these reflections can be discussed in the class, potentially accompanied by further class discussions, using additional theoretical materials, case studies, best practices guidelines and videos, as detailed in the Play2Do online course.

Objectively verifiable indicators of achievement: (What are the means required to implement these activities, e.g. personnel, equipment, training, studies, supplies, operational facilities, etc.)

Internet access. Option to buy and install a desktop/native version if desirable.

A device to download and run the application Play2Do, e.g., a PC. with windows or Mac

A trainer who knows the Play2Do tool and the pedagogy of Play2Do.

Sources and means of verification: (What are the sources of information about action progress?)

The learner will need to go through the whole scenario and upon completion will have the feedback on how well she did on the specific scenario.

She will have the chance to go again through the same scenario and take other decisions in case she doesn't have a satisfy feedback or if she want to change her actions.

Equipment (PC or other applicable device if the teachers don't have laptops etc). You can download the online game based training for FREE.

Risks and Challenges: (What pre-conditions are required before the use of the resource starts? What conditions outside the user's direct control have to be met for the implementation of the planned activities?)

Make sure that  the involved teachers have basic ICT skills before this training starts.
