DIVERSASIA - Best practices

For six consecutive years, National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski” has been organizing training for students and adults with disabilities at its sport facility in Nessebar at the Black sea cost in Bulgaria. Qualified educators and students from the specialty "Adapted physical activity" conduct trainings in swimming, kayaking, beach volleyball, bocce, football, relay games, and from this year the discipline of rowing was included. Other participants on the programare representatives of the home for elderly with intellectual disabilities, daily care center and sport club "Paralympic" at the NSA. In order to make the most of the inclusion and rehabilitation effect achieved through sport, institutions working with people with special needs should include adapted physical activity in their programs. The NSA is welcoming students with different types of disabilities in their bachelor and master degrees. The sport facilities and the university building are equipped with wheelchair ramps, tactile surfaces and appropriate lightening, which allow smooth mobility.
