Author/developer: Think Collage
Language: English
Description of good practice:
Presented by Dr. Kathleen Becht, Dr. Danie Roberts-Dahm and Denise Giarusso, Florida Consortium What goes into developing an inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) credential and the program of study in which students with intellectual disability are enrolled? The answer should be the same components as any other PSE credential for any other student. However, as a new kid on the PSE block, these programs face a number of academic, social, and personal hurdles. We share six briefs, developed by the Florida Consortium on Inclusive Higher Education, to guide the development and expansion of new and existing IPSE programs and provide examples of programs of study and the resulting earned credentials. They include a description of IPSE, components of the programs of study, examples of existing credentials available for students with intellectual disability, partnerships required for sustainable programs, an action planning tool, and credential resources. Attendees will learn about the differences in programs and types of postsecondary education institutions providing these programs.
