Description of good practice:
It is important to monitor the problems experienced by disabled university students in being involved in the distance education process, to make the process easier for them and to talk about some solutions that need to be rethought after the pandemic. To this end; The Association for the Visually Impaired in Education (EGED) organized an online event on 14 May 2020. 53 disabled students from 34 universities and different disability groups registered for the event. Access to live lessons, access to course materials and access to online exams were discussed at the event. This report; consists of the evaluations made by disabled university students at the meeting and the feedback sent to Sinem Çakmak, the Disabled Student Representative of the Council of Higher Education. As a result of the feedback, the systems used were examined as much as possible and their accessibility features were checked. Thus, the positive and negative aspects of the systems most used by universities have emerged in general terms. Accessibility conditions for these systems are also included in the report. This report is important in that it contains both a process evaluation and solution proposals for the Council of Higher Education, the disabled student units of the universities, the academic staff, the administrative units of the universities, the disabled students and all stakeholders. Therefore, problems and possible solutions gathered under 3 headings, things to consider when returning to formal education and good examples in the process are discussed.
