Description of good practice:
This chapter introduces the goals and concepts underpinning the edited volume. First, it summarizes regional and global trends that are bringing greater attention to diversity and learning across Asian higher education contexts. Second, the chapter describes the many ways diversity enhances education and argues that these learning gains require proactive inclusion of all students and dimensions of diversity. Third, the chapter describes the distinction between diversity and inclusion, and why that distinction is salient for pedagogy and curriculum design in Asia and elsewhere. The chapter concludes with an overview of the organization and contents of the book.
