This paper considers the risks associated with the requirement on HEPs to provide ‘reasonable adjustments’ under the Equality Act 2010, and suggests actions to mitigate those risks. It should be read in light of the final report of the Social Mobility Action Group (SMAG) produced by Universities UK on behalf of the Government, and will be of interest to Vice Chancellors, Principals, senior HEP managers, and Boards of Governors, as well as to the Senior Officer in each HEP who is responsible for compliance with the duty.
